Good and Evil - the final showdown
1 John 1 v 5
God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all.
1 John 4 v 7-8
7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
God is described in the bible as light and love. God is good. We need to face up to the reality the evil exists and that evil had an origin. The origin of evil was exposed through the act of creation.
Simply put; evil is the opposite of good. Therefore, evil is the opposite of God.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Both worlds would be exposed to this force of evil. The heavens were contaminated by evil through the personality of the created heavenly being - Lucifer, Satan, the Devil.
The earth was subsequently contaminated by evil when Satan deceived Eve. The 'Fall of Man' was the devastating result of this deception and contamination.
In God's great plan of creation and redemption, He has exposed the reality and existence of evil, but in His infinite wisdom, He has dealt with the problem of evil. In eternity we will appreciate what God alone could do to achieve this eternal victory.
Evil was always a potential opposite to God in eternity past but was never manifested before creation. God existed alone in perfect holiness in a past eternity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
In a future eternity, God will dwell with his people in a new heaven and a new earth that will never ever be threatened or contaminated by evil. Death and hell will be thrown into the lake of fire where the devil and his fallen angels will be confined forever.
God has overcome evil forever; it will be consigned to the lake of fire for eternity. He accomplished this at Calvary when he offered up His one and only Son as a sacrifice for sin forever. Praise Him!
